We’re the first to admit how very odd it sounds, but the addition of pumpkin to the classic Caipirinha makes for an astonishingly divine cocktail – a refreshing and autumnal Halloween treat. The pumpkin sweetens, so adding refined sugars is unnecessary, which means this take is a lighter option. We like extra lime and lots of ice. Mmmmmm.
1/2 lime, cut into 4 pieces, 1/2 ounce agave nectar, 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger, 1 1/2 ounces white rum (or cachaca if possible), 1 1/2 ounces pumpkin puree, ice, lime wedge, nutmeg (to garnish).
Muddle the lime, agave nectar, and fresh ginger in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add rum, pumpkin puree, and ice. Shake until thoroughly mixed and chilled. Strain into a glass filled with ice, and garnish with grated nutmeg and a lime wheel.
